What is Cigarette Paper Air Permeability Tester

Air permeability is a key quality property of cigarette paper, tipping paper and plug wrap paper: it describes how easily air passes through the paper under a set differential pressure. Air permeability is routinely checked in cigarette paper production and incoming inspection.

For cigarette paper the KHT-TQ645 references ISO 2965 and GB/T 23227, together with the tobacco industry standard YC/T 172. For general paper and tobacco-pack paper it also references GB/T 458, TAPPI T460 and the ISO 5636 series.

Product Description

The KHT-TQ645 clamps the paper specimen pneumatically between the upper and lower measuring surfaces and sets up a constant differential pressure across it. Air flows through the paper from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side, and a high-precision imported flow sensor measures the volume that passes.

The differential pressure can be set anywhere from 0.05 kPa to 4 kPa with 0.001 kPa resolution, so the test condition can be matched to the specimen and the method being followed. The specimen thickness can be up to 5 mm.

Its test methods cover the Schopper, Bendtsen and Gurley methods, and results can be shown in s/100 mL, mL/min or μm/(Pa·s). Test range, air volume and test area can be customized.
